1. General
  • The Horsea Competition consists of a series of qualifying competitions for the classes B through ZZL.
  • All competitions are governed by the applicable dressage competition regulations of the Royal Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS), unless stated otherwise in these regulations.
  • Participation is possible after correct registration.
  • Upon registration, it must be clearly indicated that the combination is participating in the Horsea Competition selection.
  • Participants who enter the selection competition will be given priority.

2. Competition Structure

  • The competition consists of multiple qualifying events.
  • Combinations must compete in at least 2 events to be eligible for the final ranking.
  • For each combination, the 2 best results will count towards the final ranking.

3. Scoring system
Points are awarded per competition based on ranking:

  • 1st place: 30 points
  • 2nd place: 29 points
  • 3rd place: 28 points
  • etc. (decreasing per ranking)

Tied rankings
In case of a tie, combinations receive the same number of points. The next ranking position will be skipped.

4. Promotion during the competition
  • Combinations may move up classes during the competition within classes L, M, and Z.
  • Results are recorded separately per class.
  • A combination is only eligible for the final ranking in the class in which it has achieved at least 2 results.

5. Qualification for the Final

  • The top 5 combinations per class qualify for the final based on the rankings.
  • To participate in the final, a combination must have achieved at least 60% in both qualifying events.
  • If a finalist withdraws, the next combination in the ranking will take their place.

6. Final Ranking and Championships
The final ranking is determined by the total of the 2 best results achieved. In the event of a tie, the ranking will be decided by:

  1. The highest percentage achieved
  2. The second-highest percentage
  3. The most recently achieved result

Championship Titles
A champion and reserve champion will be awarded per class: B, L, M, and Z. Overall day champion: highest average percentage across both qualifying events and the final.

7. Other Provisions
In cases not covered by these regulations, the organization will decide. The organization reserves the right to make changes if necessary.
